Lisa Dierker gives Course Overview
The GEAR UP summer program for ninth graders held in Ephraim, Utah and Salt Lake City, Utah adopted Passion-Driven Statistics during the summer of 2017. This was the first time the faculty and students from Wesleyan University brought the program to ninth graders. Passion-Driven Statistics shows students how data can help them answer their own questions through a challenging real world learning experience. It fits nicely with GEAR UP program goals of getting underrepresented high school students aware and prepared for college. This film follows students as they complete their projects and present their posters.
Passion Driven Statistics is an ideal segue between high school and college because it shows high school students how data can help them pursue their passion and explore their interested through a challenging learning experience. The Yale-Bridgeport GEAR UP Partnership adopted Passion-Driven Statistics for their summer program at Yale.
